I love building houseboat commercial lots. I dunno. There's just something that makes me happy about the ability to just drive the lot somewhere on the ocean and it still being completely functional, instead of how buggy self-made islands are

That aside, welcome to the Super Sneaky Super Gay Dance Boat

I love having dance clubs that are super colourful, but that look (somewhat) normal on the outside, so you can fit them easily into your neighbourhood without the map view looking like a care bear puked on it. I decided to go with a kinda modern look on the exterior, since even if we all love how the good ol' steamboats look, it wouldn't really fit a dance club. There's hardly any shots of the exterior because it's basically a box aaaaand more importantly houseboats tend to despawn everything in them the moment you move off the lot, so trying to take exterior shots that are not a warped pixelated mess is practically impossible. Just believe me, it's a black and white box.

You have to own the boat to move it
However, you can just sell it afterwards and it will stay in the position you moved it to.

You can place houseboats on any world as long as you build a port, which is extremely easy.

Here's how:
  1. Place a 40x40 or bigger lot on the beach line on your given town
  2. Categorize the lot as commercial -> port
  3. start building a deck from the ocean and drag it to the land, this way you will make sure it's the proper height
  4. have the deck be as long as you can, and atleast 4 tiles wide, since the houseboats need a lot of room
  5. press ctrl + shift + c simultaneusly and type in the console "testingcheatsenabled true", go to buy mode and type in "buydebug on"
  6. A question mark will appear on top of the buy mode interface, click it to go to the buydebug menu
  7. in the last ("misc") tab, filter by island paradise and choose the item that looks like a metal crate with some railings, this is the houseboat "lot"
  8. place it on your deck (the object is huge). If you cannot place it, lower the seafloor with terrain tools until you can (it requires a certain depth)
  9. decorate as you see fit. Don't forget to add stairs from the deck to the ground, even if it seems level. This ain't sims 4 girl.
  10. Go to edit town, and on your port you can now place a houseboat!
  11. Ta-da! Complete!

In order to place this lot on a port, select barge 20 x 17
on the port, then change the boat into a community lot.
