To anyone that comes here and has the same issue with the pet food boxes selling for §50 or even §51 after they're empty:
There is a quite simple fix to this problem. If you are confident with SimPE, open the PetFoodBoxObject.package and edit the RAW data of the Object Data (OBJD). Under 0x0026 (depreciation limit), change the value from 0x0032 (50 in decimal) to 0. This value caused the problem because it prevents the value from ever going below this amount.

Alternatively, I've also prepared a fixed file, since Gummilutt is probably unlikely to fix this problem as they seem to have retired. I also added a German translation to it for those who play in German.
