This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default TS2 Bodyshop crashing
Since recently, I have created Sims for Sims 2 in CAS but I have gotten interested in creating Sims in Bodyshop but Bodyshop wouldn't run because it displayed a Digital 3D error e_fail or something. And then I updated my graphics card drivers and I thought it fixed it, but no... It now crashes on Windows and Windows gives me a message; ''The Sims 2 Bodyshop has stopped working'' and check for solution (which I did btw and nothing showed up) and then closed the program all frustrated. If any of you have any advice, that would be helpful. Thanks!
My Graphics Card: AMD Radeon R7 250
I am running my game on Windows 7 and the game itself hasn't crashed except for when I had some bad CC.

You may have already tried this but if not, definitely try it. Clear all your cache files including BodyShop thumbnails.

Thanks for the reply, I did what you said. But it returned an error; ''Direct 3D returned an error: E_FAIL! The application will now terminate'', the same as before even though my drivers are updated.

Nevermind, I'm reading that directx newer versions are always backwards compatible with older versions. Thus, having directx 12 instead of 9 is probably not the problem. Again, someone please double check me on this.

Here are Microsoft's instructions for checking if you have the 12, 11, 10, 9 directx dll's and how to reinstall them if they are corrupt or missing.

And another link about directx 9 for older games saying emulation of 9 by 12 works but may be slower than just using 9. So maybe that's more of a performance/speed issue rather than a crash issue? Sorry if that doesn't help.

The problem might be that you need old stuff, not new stuff. Someone check me on this but I think direct 3d might be referring to directx 9. That's a very old version of directx. You may want to try running dxdiag.exe to see what's up with your directx and maybe install an older version if needed. Get another opinion on this because I'm not sure. See the old link from 2010 below.

Windows search, type cmd, run the cmd window, in the cmd window, type dxdiag. It will tell you which version of directx you have. I'm not sure what happens if you have both an old and a new. I think it is fine and older games use the old stuff but again, double check.

I fixed it the other way, I renamed The Sims 2 folder in My Documents and now I am slowly placing files in the new one which Bodyshop created, so far it works...

Glad it works now but you should not need to move anything unless you don't mind doing that. Mind if I ask which version of BodyShop you are using? When you right click on your BodyShop shortcut, what path do you see? I see this one, the one to Fun With Pets (correct one to use with Ultimate Collection)

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\CSBin\TS2BodyShop.exe"

I am using "C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Apartment Life\CSBin". I saw the tutorial on Kiri's stuff on tumblr; http://celebkiriedhel.tumblr.com/po...tchesplaysgames

Do you have the game running off of CDs or did you install Ultimate Collection? If it is CDs, and you have Mansions and Gardens, use the BodyShop from Mansions and Gardens, that is the latest, after Apartment Life. Unles you did not install M&G, in that case use Apartment Life. If you have the Ultimate Collection, use the one that came with Fun With Pets. Looks like you have CDs? You probably already checked this but I wanted to double check.
