I think quotes will be great for the Russian version. I'm waiting for Love123's opinion on that.

There are no quotes - although if it helps - we could have them on the Czech inserts. Alternatively, would "Send a Card of type &" work better for Czech? Or something similar? Given the restrictions of one Action string, and many inserts you can change the text around as much as you need.

If this means you need slightly different inserts for the "Send Card &" versus the "Buy Greetings Cards..." that is also fine - we had to do that for French. I had originally hoped to only have one set of insert strings in the two objects, but couldn't make it work, and then French had the requirement for them to be different so that was fine in the end.

Get back to me if more help required or if I'm not making any sense!

Cheers

Sorry my trans was so late, I haven't logged on to MTS in quite a while..
There was not already one so thank you so much for providing me with the translations - they will be used in the object very soon. I am happy to receive them whenever they are ready - no rush - so thank you for producing them.

In Korea, there's not much jewish people, so not that many people no about Hannukkah, or Kwanzaa..of course, Kwannza is an American thing. Easter is the same.

And about Mother's day, Father's day and Beareavement, well.

In Korea, Mother's day and Father's day is literally [Parent's day]. And only one day.
That's OK - thank you for the translations for these - I expect if there are not many people knowing about them, then players using the game in Korean may decide not to download cards of these types - but if they do, thanks to your translations, at least the words will not be English and look out of place.

Quote: Originally posted by gracepline
Beareavement, I wasn't really sure how to put this
An alternative might be the word "Death" or "Loss of person" perhaps? In Korea do cards get sent to say "sorry to hear that someone you loved has died"? Is there a name for those types of cards? I see you have translated it to something - if you think of a better translation from my words here - feel free to change it.

PS 2: In Korean language, there are different endings to words depending on the relationship of the talker with the listener, and the age of the talker with the listener. So, I've put the most common one-the one that can be accepted in most cases, but they're for adults who don't really know each other. So it won't be so natural with Elders to Children or Children to Elders, or in some cases, Adults to Elders, and in most cases, Teenagers to Teenagers who don't quite say [please] after every word..
I expect this is a general problem with Sims because from my investigations into the internals - I would say that there are not different strings for different relationships between Sims - they all say the same thing to each other. So, if the translations you have produced are the best one to be accepted - that is probably what the Maxis translators did too. If you - as a Korean speaker - are happy with that - I am too.

Many thanks,
Mog

That is up to the makers of the cards. The way the mod has been made - everything except the poem/verse in the greetings cards that other people make is translated because it is part of the Postal System. If card makers wish to translate their verses they can request help as I have done. The card description (seen when choosing the the specific card to write) and the text which appears when the Sim receives and views the cards, are the same text - only written in the card package once, so only one translation would be needed for the card maker - have tried to make it as painless for them as possible (Selfish really - I wanted lots of cards to make up for my lack of artistic talent for making them myself!!!)

May I just point out.. Don't use that Norwegian translation (I don't know if you have included it or not since it's not in the list).

There are so many errors there. Like direct translations of words that has no relevance to the subjects and the sentence structures are way off.

Thank you for the heads up - I have not yet included then - manically busy - so just haven't made the time to gather up the new translations yet (I edit the first post when I use them). Are you able to provide an alternative correct Norwegian translation? It would be very much appreciated.

Sure I could do. Would maybe take some time though as I'm swamped with schoolwork at the moment. Is that okay?

I assume you don't need direct translations of the descriptions? Like the one about using snail mail instead of electronic etc, I assume it's okay to somewhat edit it to fit in nicely?

I assume you don't need direct translations of the descriptions? Like the one about using snail mail instead of electronic etc, I assume it's okay to somewhat edit it to fit in nicely?
Exactly - so long as there is something similar to say, that is perfectly fine. Imagine how you would have the game describe things to your in Norwegian, and make mine fit that, rather than trying to directly translate something that is perhaps slang in English and nonsense to other languages.
