Default WCIF: Custom Careers, Writer and Painter
Hi Simmers!

I don't know if such custom careers exist and how exactly they work but I'm interested in having my Literature and Art-lovers Sims quitting their uninteresting jobs and do what they love and do best: write and paint. The problem is, I hate seeing that "unemployed" card on their career tab, so I'm looking for something to replace it with "Writer" or "Painter". Is there anything like that out there?

Many thanks in advance!

I don't know if you have University, but if you do, you could download this mod and probably get your un-college-educated sims careers like what you want.

Hi, @Nalia, I enjoy writing careers for myself. If you don't find ones you like, would you be interested in collaborating just for fun? We could exchange a few PMs with ideas and I could write one or both of these for you. Maybe I could do one and then, if you are interested in creating, you can use it as a template to do the other yourself.

Or you could give them a Writer and Painter career, set the level to whatever describes their job the best and put down the Simlogical sign to stop them going to work.

Novelist http://www.modthesims.info/d/399293...ist-pto-cc.html
Writer http://www.modthesims.info/d/162644...ing-career.html

The game already has an Artist Career. https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/Artist

If you would like them to head off to work now and then but not gain a promotion, add the job stopinator to their inventory.

Simlogical sign http://www.modthesims.info/d/480348...ult-career.html get the patch that you want
Job stopinator http://cyjon.net/node/327

This is what I do anyway.

Thank you everyone for your helpful suggestions and offers, and for bringing all these mods to my attention. I never know a mod exists till I need it. That's me.

Now, some clarifications: I have all expansions and stuff packs, and all my Sims have graduated from University - with the exception of few stupid, annoying and irritating 3rd generation Sims who dropped out. [Well, that's what happens when you party and woohoo all night long, and you sleep like a baby when you actually need to go to class.] And, here is how things have gone for some of my artist Sims:

They went to College, graduated with Summa cum Laude in Arts Major because they wanted to become Visionary, and later on when they achieved it, they became more and more pre-occupied with painting, and in some cases writing, particuarly those whose hobby was Literature. So, they reach the point they earn [additional] Simoleons from painting and writing, and roll the want to quit their regular job.

However, when they do, their work card shows "unemployed", and this is a problem for me because I find it annoying (in that respect, TS3 did a really good work with these professions). Another problem is that after a Sim week, approx., these very same Sims will start rolling wants to get a job, and if they do, I think we all know which want they will roll next: to quit. As you can see, there is no difference between such a Sim and a dog chasing its tail. So, with the small details out of the way...

@ Charity:
This Freelancer mod looks really promising. Thank you!
@Sunrader:
Thank you very much for offering to create something for me, this is very kind of you! From what other Simmers here have suggested though, it won't be necessary as there seem to be ways to stop the vicious circle I mentioned above.
@joanandsarah77:
Thanks for the all the links and suggestions, there are a couple of possibilities I hadn't thought about.
If anything this mod you mention threw me off my chair laughing with Foo-Foo
