The scariest thing about these celebrity tie-ins is they presumably wouldn't do them if they incurred a net loss on such deals. Either there are people paying Sims for publicity or there are actually consumers who buy this shit cause omg generic Hollywood person #479 is on one of the coffee cups omg I gotta have it

Oh they definitely work. Far better than bug fixes at attracting new customers.

I thought the first thing anyone did once loading up Get Famous was to head over to Manage Households and delete Baby Ariel from existence?

You'll never get rid of her. She'll be restored in every update. It's pointless to resist. Just let the baby fish take over your game.

Oooo a major company aligning with a "famous" 18 year old. This will end well.

They literally could have gotten a random man or woman off of the street and had a bigger impact.

That. Simple.

Baby horror is based on a person? Uh, didn't realise that... after the first quick look at my game I went in and changed Baby Ariel's appearance, and since then I haven't seen her anywhere. Did I just bork my game? O.O

I don't even know who these people they keep aligning themselves with are. The girl from get famous, and now baby ariel. They might be the same person, I don't remember. Either way, at least get someone at least somewhat well known. It shouldn't be hard considering they're a triple A game.

Who the hell is Baby Ariel? At first I thought it'll be a pack with Little Mermaid themed stuff.

I didn't know her before TS4 and I don't like TikTok and the whole trend that comes with it, but if she's honestly a Sims fan then I hope she stays away from the official sites or can block most of it out. She's only 18, but some of the comments I've heard about her are just straight-out insulting. I find it weird too how she got famous for lip-syncing and I don't understand why they chose her as "celebrity", but I don't think she deserves most of the hate and insults she gets If she really is a Sims fan then she must be incredibly happy to be involved in the game. Everyone can just delete her from the game and it's done. People weren't that angry about SimSupply or Deligracy being in their games.

Does anyone have screenshots of the in-game items btw? I only saw a hoodie and a pair of jeans and both looked okay, but I'm especially interested in the new hair.

The most I’ve seen people say about her is that they have no idea who she is - which is true. No one is shutting down a nightclub for her. At least Katy Perry is well known and STILL has a VERY active career to this day. Baby Ariel probably couldn’t even tell you the notes in a C Major scale.

From what I understand, it's a website where people lipsync and dance to their favorite songs and the clips are typically like 20 seconds long.

This is the most popular video I know of from Tiktok, and I only saw it cause it was all over youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVEdQJ7qtJw

How on earth someone can get famous doing that, no idea. Then again maybe I'm a disgruntled old man and I can't understand these confounded social media outlets where people post ONE pic or ONE message with 120 characters or less and omg they famous they have like 2,000 likes on their post isn't that AMAZING???

I know at my job there's four girls that spend their lunch break talking about how many likes their new instagram post got so I think it's really something that you're either in that community, or you aren't and you think it's the stupidest thing ever.

Lol the comment section.

Out of curiosity, I remember looking for who is this Baby Aerial (first time I heard somebody mention I too thought of disney mermaid), but even wikipedia didn't help as it didn't provided an image of her. Maybe I'm out of touch for not playing TS4 to recognize and be familiar with her. Okay I clicked the facebook link... yeah, do even the target audience they're marketing know her. Such pack would be a failure... If only people wouldn't buy the pack without rereading carefully the title of the pack. Not that its because of the person being endorsement, but a random one? No means to insult this media celebrity, but I think Katy Perry since her has (or used to in the past few months) much bigger following and was well recognized by all ages. I don't see what EA is making and squeezing out of this how its gonna fly... then again, what they put out of shelves have all my predictions proven wrong.

As for why SimSupply (that's been a longer entertainer; dunno about the other youtuber) and Deligracy have their own sim versions and are loved by sim community.... well... that's because they're avid youtubing simmers... with a large following. Again, maybe I'm too out of touch with TS4 fanbasw, but these tick-tock whatever even played the game in some sort of public manner of showing and connecting with alike large communities of the same franchise?

P.S. Sorry for my bad english.

They could have thrown any one of the people who play the Sims 4 in Buzzfeed videos (that are always in my recommended section?) and more of the community would have known what's going on. EA must really think most of their fanbase is under 18 to have done this. Maybe offline, they are correct, I have no idea. This doesn't really make me feel old, because no one else in the community really seems to understand. So I guess we're all old together? Moreover, the content put forward isn't particularly nice looking... It looks rushed, and there are too few (or no) extra swatches.

From looking at The Sims main page, I am more upset about this:

I can say...

My mom once told me that before the internet and before TV, the only "porn" easily available for the curious teenie weenies was National Geographic when they'd cover some tribe that doesn't wear clothes, so curious teens that just hit puberty would try to get their hands on that to learn about sex. Then came Skinemax, then came the internet, and these days...?

There's some youtuber that I got recommended enough where I just thought "wtf is going on here" cause all of the thumbnails were censored Sims having sex. Legit, every episode was a new girl. Clicked the vid and it turns out it's this guy that made his simself, made himself a rich celebrity, talks like he's some thug gangsta and every episode is just him trying to get laid with some new girl while he has every sex mod ever installed. Strangely, the guy had a LOT of subscribers.

Hilariously, the episode I clicked, he was talking about how Youtube released this demographics report to him to detail his channel views and help him gain insight on how to get more, and he mentioned that according to youtube, the majority of his viewers were like 9-12 or 13-16. He expressed surprise and asked people to comment and confirm if it were true, and sure enough the comments were just loads of people being like "im 9 but its ok im very mature i kno all about sex." Absolutely surreal to see that.

TURNS OUT, it would seem that these days plenty of kids learn about sex via the Sims and yeah, there seems to be a pretty large unspoken child/pre-teen demographic that plays this game. EA obviously can't acknowledge them directly since they fall below the permissable age for the game, but yeah, they're definitely there. I mean I can't explain how else some random asswipe has 2 million views on some sad video of his simself screwing the maid. Fortnite's also huge and again, that has a huge chunk of it's playerbase from children. A lot of the "famous" youtubers are actually geared towards children too, and that's part of why Youtube Rewind always sucks: cause they tend to promote the loud obnoxious losers being marketed at kids and nobody else.

I often see the excuse of "the fans are quiet cause they busy LOVING AND PLAYING THE GAME" as they try to claim fans or people that love a product are a silent majority, and I find the concept of a silent majority ridiculous. There's one exception though: children. Children ARE a silent demographic because half the time they're technically not allowed (but the companies sure as hell won't refuse their money) and often pretty quiet since they don't care about socializing or chatting, they just wanna play.

Hahahahaha! Hahahaha! That's funny! But I would have the same reaction to a 30+ year old saying that. There is no way to know 'all' about sex because it covers such a vast expanse of... everything, really. Fetishes being just one of the markets.

Why go for The Sims if you wanna see sex? You have the INTERNET in your hands, it's so easy to find stuff.
